“New Year New Me” 

I don’t know how many times I’ve said this.

It’s so easy after having a shitty or even just an average year (like myself) to justify a new lifestyle you want to create or obtain because the year is changing.

I love this starting off fresh though. But I shouldn’t always use it as a starting point as I can start any time of the year. In all honesty a new year can bring much change if you want it to. It can create a new me.

Last year, at this time, (before the new year started) I set goals for myself that I said I wanted to accomplish but never pursued. Honestly, looking back I regret that decision and want a new do over which is exactly what this new year will be about.

In this post I will be talking about what I planned on for 2015, last year, and what I will be trying to pursue in the new year of 2016.

My 2015 resolutions:

1. Get more fitlets_get_fit_bt_pink

Now for this when I was all talk and no action. I actually did the opposite of that and gained weight on top of the freshman 15 so it ultimately became the freshman 30.

2. Eat better.

heart-healthy.jpgTo be completely honest being in college it is hard to stay healthy. All of your meals are provided for you cooked for you and you have no idea what the calorie count is etc. in college it’s easy to grab a hamburger and a slice of pizza at the all you can eat dining spots. I sat they fell into this since my freshman year in college. But this isn’t an excuse. I CHOSE to eat that buffalo chicken wrap 5 days a week with fries instead of getting fajitas or something that was a BETTER option. It will and should be all about QUALITY not QUANTITY.

Side note: I am totally all for cheat meals.

3. Love yourself.

This is always been a goal of mine for the past few years and I always struggle with it. I ultimately have no idea why…

2016 resolutions:

1. Clean out everything in my life that doesn’t bring me joy.

22318578.jpgSo I have so much clutter. My life is basically all shit. Shit that I love. Shit that I don’t use. Shit that serves me no purpose. Shit that I do and don’t enjoy. I think I am going to buy The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up that you can check out here. And I want to start looking at my life this way. I want to not only clear my life out of clutter in a room or closet but also people, hobbies, habits etc.

2. Force myself to go to the gym.

I am a total excuse-r when it comes to the damn gym. Some of my excuses are: “I am so tired. I need to nap because I have so much more to do today” and then I watch Netflix all day. OR I will say “Oh I can’t work out tomorrow morning because I need sleep since I didn’t go to bed until 2 am” but I am the one who sat on her phone instead of trying to go to sleep for 2 hours. You see what I mean? I am not forcing myself to go. I do want to enjoy it but I can’t even get myself to go. There is a gym in my building and is only 2 floors below me… AND no one is EVER in it. So what is the excuse actually.

It could be that I am embarrassed that I am not a gym expert or a working out expert but I have to realize that I am just starting and everyone had to start at one point.

I am really inspired by MarissaLace on Youtube’s new series on her channel that will take place during 2016 that is called “Year of You”. Check out her channel here AND check out what she learned from 2015! The way she put everything is just amazing and makes me want to focus on myself. Because ultimately I am in a relationship with myself forever.

4. Goals

I found this while reading a fitness/weight loss article somewhere and I thought this was amazing. It is called “Smart” goals. So basically each letter of smart means something that your goal should be! Check it:


So for my goals this 2016. I want to set “smart” goals. I want to reach my goals.

For example:

  1. Finish Kayla Itsines BBG 1! She is starting #thekaylamovement (round 2 I think) on January 11th. My goal is to start it then and stick with it for 12 weeks! I wish so badly I did it last year. So this year is my year!
