My Top Shelf(ie)
If you read Into the Gloss, you would know that they look into all of the medicine cabinets and product must haves of amazing figures in society. Models, actresses, celebrities, bloggers, etc. It is super fun to read about what other people love and have on their top shelf, and multiple favorites have made it into my collection as a whole.
This weekend I was at the Oregon Coast (more specifically the Arcadia beach North of Cannon beach) and found a medicine cabinet in the bathroom. I freaked out (since I have always wanted one) and had to put my products in. I also don’t want one since seeing Prom Night since the main actress opens her medicine cabinet with no one behind her, and closes it and all of a sudden the killer is in the mirror reflection. So classic but it did freak me out.
But for the sake of the classic Into the Gloss Top Shelf, I opened the cabinet (so I was potentially open for being the star of a horror movie), put my product in so I can share with you some off my favorite products.
Let’s go through the steps. I love using the Drybar Hair Clips for everything. These are amazing for holding my hair back when I’m washing my face, styling my hair, just in general I will pop one of these bad boys back to get my hair out of my face and it helps. I have them in my bag, in my car, bathroom, room, on my nightstand, where I put on my makeup. It is honestly a little excessive.
After my hair is back, since nothing is worse than having your hair get wet when you’re splashing water on your face, I go in with my Milky Jelly Cleanser since it is my love and a multipurpose product. Milky Jelly is great to take off makeup and then I use it a second time to cleanse my face. If you’ve heard of a double cleanse, that is basically what I do but just with Milky Jelly for travel purposes. Read this post so all the deets on Milky Jelly.
One of my favorite steps in my skincare routine, because of this product, is going in with the Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 1970. It just makes your face look so much better as you use it. It really is a facial in a bottle. Read this post for more deets on this product. But really, it works wonders on my skin and keeps acne at bay.
I let that product soak in a little, letting my face get a little red and tingly while it soaks in, (which is normal) and then apply my moisturizer. Right now I am using the Tula Hydrating Day and Night Cream. A post will be coming out soon about the low down on this product, but to give you a hint, I haven’t found it to be a keeper or a miracle worker for my skin. It is just a basic moisturizer and I feel like it isn’t Top Shelf worthy but instead is just a product I have and should use up before moving on. I do prefer the Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich because of how it feels on my skin, the smell and the price tag.
As for my day time moisturizer on this trip, I brought the Glossier Priming Moisturizer which is just a good basic moisturizer for everyday. It hydrates, without over hydrating or leaving my skin feeling oily. It also soaks into the skin really nicely. More top shelf worthy, the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturzing Sorbet, aka my ideal daytime moisturizer, but the Glossier one is better for my skin when it is drier, aka when I’m at the beach in cold wind and salty air.
For a good daytime and night time eye product, I love the Pixi 24k Eye Roller. It feels amazing, is de-puffing, and is nice and light for the day time. It is also super great for travel!
As my final night time skin step, I love The Ordinary Rosehip Seed Oil to really hydrate my face and keep in all of the beneficial aspects of the products I had already applied. I love adding extra moisture at night since it has time to soak in while I sleep.
The actual final night time step is applying my Grande Lash MD. A post is in the works for this product but a little preview is: it works. My eyelashes have gotten longer but I only use it 4-5 nights a week, not during the day time and I will talk about the full story in that post.
My final day time step is my Glossier Invisible Shield SPF Sunscreen. It is the best sunscreen I have tried. It is lightweight, hydrating, non-oily, has no white cast, is completely transparent and it smells great. I put this on everyday under makeup, over makeup sometimes if I forget to put it on before my products and even on my hands as I drive. Yes I am that crazy lady. I do not want my hands to age me one bit.
I hope you enjoyed this post! I know these products might not be “holy grails” or “must-haves” or perfect products, but it is a good representation of some Top Shelf items and some products I am still testing out. Plus I just had to take advantage of the medicine cabinet while I could.
Tell me some of your top shelf products below!
