Products I’m Currently Testing Out: Jordan Samuel Skin

I first heard of Jordan Samuel’s skincare line, Jordan Samuel Skin, when Amelia of Amelia Says This, posted and wrote about a products (or multiple products) that were on the brink of revolutionary. Person after person after person that I personally follow on Instagram (I will have some of them linked below) were posting rave reviews of his products. The Hydrate Facial Serum and etOILe Facial Oil were “winning” ‘Skinemmies’ throughout November in the skincare instagram community. I was interested to learn more. I started watching his videos on his youtube channel. He knew what he was talking about and he was creating products that were practical and most importantly, that worked.

If you read this post a while back, you would know I have been following Jordan Samuel Skin for a while and have been using over some of his products! Anyway so I finally have had the chance to try some out! I was able to, specifically, try out the Hydrate Facial Serum and the Hydrate Facial Mist.

So a little bit about the ingredients in the serum, first. It has hyaluronic acid, stabilized vitamin C, and hexapeptides that are combined with cucumber, tamarind, and passion flower extracts, which all in all give you that glowy, hydrated, healthy skin.

Hyaluronic Acid is a natural component of skin which decreases age. You slowly start losing natural hyaluronic acid as early as age 18 but it won’t show up visibly, until your 30s or 40s. (Aka wrinkles, sagging skin and other skin damage.) Hyaluronic Acid keeps your skin looking youthful and glowy. Its functions include holding in moisture (awesome for your skin), aids tissue repair, keeps skin supple, holding together skin’s collagen and elastin (keeping wrinkles away), and provides a protective barrier.

You mainly see Hyaluronic Acid being promoted as very very hydrating and that is because for every 1 gram of Hyaluronic Acid it can hold up to 6 liters of water. However too much water for your skin is a bad thing. Hyaluronic Acid is even better because it will never hydrate the skin too much to cause negative effects.Hyaluronic acid isn’t just for people with dry skin, it is beneficial to everyone. It is calming, hydrating and has antioxidant properties that benefit all skin types including acne, rosacea and eczema prone skin.

And a quick bit on Vitamin C (hopefully post coming soon)… It promotes collagen production which in turn diminishes wrinkles, fine lines etc., it speeds up the healing process of skin, reduces discoloration, improves hydration and moisture, brightens skin, and reduces inflammation.

The Mist has similar ingredients that give you the same desired look. There is red seaweed added to the serum main ingredients (hyaluronic acid, cucumber, tamarind, passion flower and organic glycerin) to give you that extra glow. These two products truly go hand in hand.

We all know (hopefully) that cucumber, as an ingredient in skincare, is calming, non irritating, and soothing. And Red Seaweed enhances your skin’s barrier, replenishes your skin’s natural water levels, and increases moisture retention in the skin.

These two products from Jordan Samuel Skin are well thought out and well executed. It makes sense why this smaller but quickly growing brand is taking the skincare-instagram world by storm.

Next on my list: EtOILe Oil + Retinol AND The Aftershow Treatment Cleanser.
